Wherever people are, the Shekinah teams encourage individuals to visualise a future and find their purpose. Shekinah’s award-winning training programmes offer people an opportunity to re-engage with learning in a safe, nurturing, fun and motivating environment.
Shekinah run therapeutically-based personal development programmes, functional skills courses such as English, maths and IT and a horticulture programme in Torbay. Shekinah’s multi-skilled teams offer wrap around support throughout engagement and finding your reason for ‘being’ is at the heart of what is achieved. When interested, individuals are encouraged to explore volunteering options, there are also opportunities to engage with Shekinah’s social enterprise and charity shops.
Mental and physical health and wellbeing is central to all that we aim to achieve at Shekinah.
Shekinah’s multi-skilled and experienced teams work with the ‘whole person’, motivating and facilitating change in both thinking and behaviours. Shekinah runs a variety of therapeutic programmes and interventions which support people to address the roots of negative lifestyle choices and encourages each person to heal both mind and body simultaneously.
We recognise the importance of health and wellbeing if people are going to make improvements in their lives and move off the streets into their own home and hopefully progress into training and employment when they feel able. We recognise that we are all different and so our approach is to deal with the ‘whole person’ for as long as it takes. In doing so we ensure that the person’s needs are met in a sensitive, positive, and compassionate way.
Some of our courses are funded by the European Union and Plymouth City Council.
