A friend and I are riding from Santander on the Atlantic Coast to Perpignan on the Mediterranean Sea via the Pyrenees Mountains. Swapping between Spain and France a couple of times, we have allowed 14 days to complete the ride and we will be fully self-sufficient, carrying everything we need and sleeping under canvas throughout. Camping will be a combination of wild and site camping, we want to spend at least one night wild camping at altitude.
The route is still to be refined but is circa 650 miles with 71,000 feet of climbing. To put the climbing into perspective this the equivalent of climbing Mt Everest twice. For those of you who follow the Tour de France we will be taking in some classic cols including Col de Pailhères, Col de Mente and Col de Tourmelet to name a few. 3 years ago we rode from John O’Groats to Lands End and was overwhelmed with everyone generosity raising over £2,000 Shekinah, it would be wonderful to get close to the same again.
