Since 2019, I’ve raised money to buy Christmas presents for Big Issue sellers and people experiencing homelessness. It all started when a few individuals shared the same feelings:

“I hate Christmas, being on the streets with no one, not even a gift to unwrap.”

“Sure, I have a tiny bedsit, but that’s it—no presents, no food, no company.”

These moments moved me to ask, “Lord, how can I brighten their Christmas? How can I give them the gift of hope?” That’s when the Christmas present campaign began. It’s been challenging but deeply humbling. The stories will stay with me forever.

Here are a few examples:

  1. “I haven’t had a Christmas present since I was 17, and I’m 32 now. I’m saving this for Christmas Day.”
  2. “You got me a toothbrush! I can finally brush my teeth. Thank you.”
  3. “I’ve got a coat for Christmas; I feel like I’ve won the lottery. Thank you!”
  4. “You raised money to buy us street people Christmas gifts? Incredible. Thank you. This is pure treasure.”

With each gift, I’ve prayed for them, laughed, cried, and shared cups of tea, talking about life.

Unfortunately, I no longer have the health to continue alone, so this year I’m working with Shekinah to raise money. I’m fundraising to help Shekinah buy much-needed food and toiletries. They’ll ensure the donations go where it’s most needed.

Thanks to people’s generosity, I’ve been able to give 138 gifts in just 5 years! Through this kindness, 138 people have seen, heard, and felt God’s hope. That’s 138 lives touched and changed.
