Conscientious Objection

Course description: Simon Dell is a researcher and author on social history; his book “The Dartmoor Conchies” was published almost 10 years ago. He volunteered as a chaplain at Dartmoor Prison for some years until closure.
Simon’s presentation will look at the National issue of Conscientious Objector in the First World War and will be bringing it up to date. He will look in particular at the Dartmoor Work Centre (HMP Dartmoor) and how men were treated there.
