Shekinah Grow is a therapeutic land-based service, set in the outskirts of Paignton. Shekinah Grow sits within the rolling hills of the valley, nestled next to Occombe Valley woodland.
We offer a space for individuals to connect with nature, learn new skills, and sometimes, just be. We encourage individuals through structured programmes to gain and retain hope, to understand abilities and disabilities, to engage in an active life, gain personal autonomy, social identity, to have meaning and purpose in life, and a positive sense of self.
We are proactive in offering a structured approach to enhance the 5 areas of wellbeing, that is to connect, be active, take notice, learn and to give. This is actively facilitated through working the land and wildlife initiatives, we balance practical, creative, and theoretical activities to engage individuals with the holistic benefits of being in nature and learning about our wild world using the natural resources available to us.
Our accredited courses in horticulture and forestry, offer a fantastic pathway in learning more about a hobby, gaining the skills and qualifications to develop your career, or simply to learn to grow your food using organic principles. Our forestry course and workshops encourage learners to develop their knowledge of ‘all things trees’, incorporating the traditional crafts of hedge laying, and coppicing.
We also offer a variety of workshops to celebrate traditional skills such as green woodwork, traditional fire making, and natural crafts such as leaf art. We also love to embrace our inner creativity with workshops such as floristry, wreath making, and stone painting.
In this ever-changing and busy world, we appreciate the serenity, peace, and that ‘community feeling’ at Shekinah Grow, ensuring we have sessions such as ‘Grow Social – Just Be’, campfire book club, and our coffee and quiz mornings.
